The Rebound Effect is when a drug decreases your baseline functioning in some area, making you feel worse in that area when sober—tricking you into thinking the drug is improving such area when in reality it is not.

Integration of the addict identity into ones greater sense of self is crucial when it comes to entering and maintaining recovery. In this post I explore why this is so important and how stigmatization and misunderstanding of addiction make this difficult.

Addiction is much more complex then it appears to be on the surface. The mind of an addict may often feel completely divided and in constant conflict with itself.
