Stop the Suffering (STS) is a Columbus, Ohio based nonprofit that rescues dogs and cats from high kill shelters, primarily in Ohio, and to transport them to safety. They operate a dog adoption program and find dogs their new homes. They also raise funds for veterinary care, transportation and food for rescued animals. Stop the Suffering provides resources to promote responsible pet ownership.

Home Visits
Volunteers may visit potential adopters’ homes to help move the process forward.

Administrative Help
Volunteers may help with things like flyers, social media, data entry, promotions, and even photography.

Adoption Events
Volunteers can represent STS at events in the Columbus area. This includes handling foster dogs and helping transport them. Usually a 2–3 hour time commitment.

Fundraising
They run 3–4 big fundraisers a year and need help with planning and event staffing.

Dog Walking
Some dogs stay in boarding while waiting for foster homes. Volunteers can walk and spend time with them. Usually about an hour.
