Athens Ohio Food Rescue

What is Food Rescue

At the end of the day, many restaurants have leftover food that is not sold.  Often times this food ends up going to waste in the trash. This is not anyone’s fault, as restaurants often don’t know what else to do with these leftover products. However, this extra food has the ability to go toward a greater cause.  It can be used to help feed hundreds of food-insecure individuals.

The Love Light Movement, a non-profit organization is here to rescue any leftover food from restaurants that reside in Athens, Ohio.  All of this food will be used to feed people who live in Athens, Ohio and areas around Athens. Many residents, and people everywhere, need help with feeding themselves and their families. Any and all kinds of food can be taken and used as long as it is up-to-date. The food can be picked up by a Love Light Movement volunteer at a time most convenient for the restaurant.

The Love Light Movement will use any donations to help feed people at our weekly free meals at the Piggly Wiggly.  We also do food deliveries to individuals’ homes. The Love Light Movement has three meals per week and house deliveries after each meal, so all extra food given will be used for the cause. While it may seem like the easiest option is to throw away any leftover food, it can be just as easy to donate. If wanted, a volunteer member can package the leftover food themselves, so no extra work will have to go into donating. Food waste is a huge problem in the United States, and food insecurity is also a rising issue. Through food donation and rescue, both of these issues can be solved. The solution can start with food rescue missions in Athens, Ohio.
